AeroCourse Flight Dispatcher Course
Flight dispatchers are an integral part of any flight operation centre. All aspiring flight dispatchers are required to successfully complete two Transport Canada exams prior to being hired by any major Canadian carrier. AeroCourse is pleased to offer our Flight Dispatcher course. This seven-day seminar will assist in your preparation to write -- and excel -- at the Transport Canada’s Meteorology and Flight Operations exams.
In a 1997 ruling, commuter and major airlines with more than 6 planes that carry over 20 people are required to have a Flight Dispatcher.
Most airlines have one dispatch office and the approximate salary range is $45,000 to $70,000 year. With the average age of dispatchers rising, the industry is expecting a sizable retirement in next few years. This makes for a rewarding opportunity for the right individual.
Qualifications
Those considering a career as Flight Dispatcher should have some aviation background, either having a private pilot licence or having taken at least a private pilot ground school. Flight dispatchers essentially need to know everything a pilot knows to land a plane.
It's not necessary to have Univeristy or College education as applicants are required to write the Transport Canada Dispatch exams after taking a dispatcher course then be trained specifically by the airline (or charter) company.
Applicants are usually hired by a charter company then move up to an airline as experience grows.
